How far along? 37.5 weeks.

Baby’s size?   As of the ultrasound I had a couple days ago (to check size and amniotic fluid levels), Eliza is closing in on 7 lbs, which puts her at about the 60th %ile for size.  Those ultrasounds can be off by about a pound in either direction though, so we shall see!  She is also about as tall as she is going to get in there, somewhere between 19 and 22 inches (average baby size).  She’s just working on getting chubbier, these days, though I wouldn’t mind if she cut that out at this point!

Sleep?   10 weeks ago, the last time I updated this, I wondered how long until I really couldn’t sleep.  The answer is: 36w6d.  Up until then, the sleep wasn’t great but it was good enough.  Then, magically, my back started killing me and I can’t move properly and I’m getting several hour long naps every night.  If I’m lucky.  Guess what happens if you take a narcoleptic lady’s sleep away?  She becomes a total whiny basket case.

Food cravings or aversions?  After not wanting anything sweet for the vast majority of this pregnancy, all of the sudden I want ice cream and sweet cereal and ice cream and watermelon and fruit and that is ALL.  I’ve been eating other food too, but mainly because I’m terrified I won’t have had a substantive meal when I go into labor and then they won’t let me eat anything and I’ll die of hunger before the baby makes her debut.

Symptoms?   Oh, just my back hurting like crazy and not sleeping.  And my headaches are back.  And I am having a ton of Braxton Hicks contractions that are getting a lot stronger, but they don’t hurt.  They do end up making me kind of exhausted after a spell.  I assume I will be able to tell when I start having real ones :D

Best moment this week?  Hmm.  Walking to dinner after a reasonably good nap yesterday afternoon?  Tough to say.  It’s fall here, suddenly, and the weather is fantastic – I want to go play outside so badly, but I’m not good for much other than a slow walk.  We are hoping to go on a little adventure tomorrow to Palouse Falls, if I manage to get enough sleep tonight.

Movement?  Pretty impressive.  She doesn’t kick anymore, so much as flop around.  You can definitely tell where her hands and feet are (usually over on my left side) and her butt and back (on the right).  Sometimes there will be a big swipe across my belly that you can see from across the room.  I won’t say it feels good, but it’s pretty cool.

What I miss about not being pregnant?  Sleeping.  Running.  Jumping.  I’m getting cabin fever pretty bad!  On the bright side, I can still put my shoes on myself!

What I’m looking forward to?  The finish line, for sure!  I will say that, this whole pregnancy thing is genius.  We’ve been super apprehensive about parenthood and getting ready, and getting things done at work, but suddenly I’m READY.  If it didn’t get uncomfortable at the end, I’d probably never feel ready!
